Ok. So I haven't been very regular in the update category of LJ or MS or ThisIsBy.us -- all I can say is that I will improve...

And apart from recreating my hand-made bed frame (I lowered it from the "able to store things under it" to the "it's a normal bed height") == pictures soon and, if you want, plans on how I made a kick ass bed frame for around $50. (the secret is Simpson Strong-Ties...) this weekend, I also found time to acquire two hopefully awesome (and useful) tools.

At my job I noticed they were "recycling" some older laptops - and after the demise of my MacBook a few months ago (story to follow later) I asked if I could have one...

They said yes.

So on Tuesday I spent half the day cobbling together a working laptop from the four that were slated for disposal. - Mind you I was still at work, getting paid to build myself a working laptop. The result:



Yup, that's an Apple Powerbook G3 sporting a Farallon Skyline 11Mb wireless card and running Mac OS 10.3.9.

The two batteries I found both hold about a 2 hour charge.

I just got done with my first day of work as a contractor – ($23/hr.) and while I was checking some things online I found something interesting (in the grad school sense of the word).

It was posted (whole) a few days ago – okay it was posted on July 27th. The copy I have is from Germany (I think) and very good quality. heh.

When I had money, I signed up on the Einstürzende Neubauten supporter site and finally received my two CDs.

This is a bucket of dirt with beet seeds (approx. 3 days old) - My backyard is cement so container gardening is required if you want to grow your own food.

I am working at creating other things to put here - but for right now this will have to do...
